The Cherry on Top Sorbaria is a perennial shrub that adds color and texture to a landscape. The Sorbaria sorbifolia has white flower plumes that bloom in summer before transforming into clusters of vibrant red seed pods that dangle from the branches while providing attractive fall color. The stems are dotted with evenly spaced narrow green foliage that comes to a point.
Sorbaria will grow about 4 to 5 feet tall and wide, making it a natural fit for borders and mass plantings. Feature this shrub on a slope or embankment to stabilize the ground or add vivid color and texture to a space. Sorbaria plants thrive in containers which enable you to feature the plant on a patio or balcony. Songbirds will be drawn to the plant in the fall when the seed pods are available.
